Belfast City Hospital

Sorry, currently out of print

A unique insight into over 160 years of medical care in Belfast presented by one of its eminent physicians. In the history of Belfast the contribution of the City Hospital has received little attention. From a Workhouse, opening in May 1841 with only six beds for the treatment of the sick, it gradually evolved into the largest hospital on a single site in the United Kingdom.

Only a few articles recording the developments of the hospital have been written and this photographic history, based on a series of lectures given to members of the Hospital Association between 1994 and 1999, will be of interest to the many who benefited from the City Hospital.
